The Tale of the Dumbadzes

A clash of cultures unfolds when a young British photographer and her boyfriend make an expedition to the mountains of Georgia, uncovering ancient myths, questionable customs, and the struggles of her own relationship, finding that some boundaries are uncrossable.

A young man, who avoided military service thanks to his caring parents, is enjoying his student life. Suddenly, his closest friend, who has returned from the army, dies heroically. The young man feels a twinge of conscience and begins to reevaluate his life.

The story follows a family in socially tangled Tbilisi throughout 24 hours. Tamuna, a busy woman about to leave for London and spend a few days with her lover tries to solve all the family issues before her departure.

A group of teenage boys from Tbilisi take a trip to Azerbaijan to buy drugs, and end up fighting in the Nagorno-Karabakh War, when they are captured by Azerbaijani militants, with one subsequently being captured by the Armenians. During the course of events, the main character has flashbacks to his relationship with his father, as well as a depressive prostitute.

After being sentenced to death by the Bolsheviks, Nazar has conversations in his cell as he awaits execution with the commissar who sentenced him and a priest.
