Holy War, Holy Terror

Since it began in 1983, Frontline has been airing public-affairs documentaries that explore a wide scope of the complex human experience. Frontline's goal is to extend the impact of the documentary beyond its initial broadcast by serving as a catalyst for change.

Based on true events, an American submarine collides into a Soviet sub of the coast of America and an ensuing standoff occurs that could lead to total annihilation.

In 1945, Allied troops invaded Germany and liberated Nazi death camps. They found unspeakable horrors which still haunt the world’s conscience. A film was made by British and American film crews who were with the troops liberating the camps. It was directed in part by Alfred Hitchcock and was broadcast for the first time in its entirety on PBS FRONTLINE in 1985.

Correspondent Richard Reeves reports on the ongoing struggle of the Afghan Muslim resistance against the Soviet-backed government of Afghanistan. Examines Pakistan's role as a haven for Afghan guerrillas and refugees and as a conduit for arms supplied to the guerrillas by the U.S. and Saudi Arabia.
