The Mole and Little Hare

An episode of the children's series about a little Mole. This story tells how the little Mole chased a cuckoo living in a wooden clock booth.

The little mole's friends steal his cherries. But the little mole has an idea how to make them feel ashamed.

The mole meets the hedgehog.

A story about a mole who tried to plug a hole in a hose. When a frog jumped out of it, the water stopped flowing and the flowers began to dry out. So he thought he could create a stream around them that would provide them with enough water.

The mole is very disappointed in his friends. The rabbit, hedgehog, and mouse have eaten all the cherries he picked for himself. He always shared his blueberries with them. He disguises himself as a poor old man and asks his three friends one after the other for a small donation. But they send him away empty-handed. When they realize that it is the mole, they feel ashamed and come up with a plan.

Krtek finds a broken toy car a child has discarded, and slowly puts it back together. There is a level of moral instruction to this: as the little mole carefully repairs the toy, children are cautioned about the wastefulness of city life and mass consumption, but also encouraged to learn how things work. The automobiles function as an allegory for the larger mechanized world, and how it is at odds with the natural one

Children with their musical instruments are able to drive lazy Martin out of the furnace and punish him for his laziness.

The mouse falls ill, and the owl advises the mole to find a Matricaria Chamomilla flower. However, she does not have time to tell him where the flower grows. The mole travels the whole world in search of the flower, only to discover that it grows in their meadow.

Created by Czech director and animator Zdeněk Miler in 1956, Krtek, or The Mole in English, was an international hit with children. Because the cartoons were presented with no dialogue, Krtek was held to no national boundaries. Milers daughter voiced the noises and grunts that Krtek made, and gave Miler the feedback from a child's perspective he needed to keep his stories focus on his young fans.

A poor miner, Kuba Dařbuján, cares for his wife Markýtka and eleven children. When a newborn arrives, he seeks a godfather and, finding only Death fair to all, accepts a pact: as a doctor whom Death accompanies at the foot of a patient’s bed, he can heal; but if Death stands at the head, no cure is possible. Kuba eventually heals even a miserly brewer, violating the pact and imprisoning Death, leading to a world where no one can die and unforeseen chaos follows.
