That Whole "Yale Thing"

Drawing on archival footage from four separate film productions that documented the protests of early May, 1970, this short film creates a kaleidoscopic portrait of the response to the New Haven Black Panther trials.

Drawing on one hundred years of photobooths in cinema, the film tells the story of the machines and the photographs they produce through clips from more than 150 films, both familiar and obscure, and is a testament to the enduring and universal power of the photobooth to both freeze time and transcend it.
