The docudrama Lone Wolf follows the life and combat experiences of RAF fighter pilot Josef František. Director Ondřej Veverka presents the story of a pilot who made his name whilst serving with the RAF’s 303rd Polish Fighter Squadron during the Battle of Britain. The film portrays Josef František not only as a flying ace with eighteen aerial victories during the Battle of Britain, but also as a man plagued by inner doubts yet possessing exceptional courage.

Diaries, correspondence and family film recordings reveal a unique view of the life and privacy of the citizens of the so-called Protectorate of Bohemia and Moravia… Young documentarian Ondřej Veverka approached dozens of witnesses of the protectorate times and their descendants to share unique film recordings and written testimonies with him from that time. The result is a three-part documentary that provides a unique perspective on the protectorate. At that time, perhaps more than ever, amateur cameras noticed ordinary everyday things, small joys and ordinary life. Perhaps so that one can at least for a moment succumb to the illusion that the world is actually still in order. But soon tragedy entered these shots as well.

What life was like in the era of post-war hopes and fears of repression, a time of big dreams and small personal struggles, is revealed in a documentary series that brings to light previously unknown stories of ordinary people from 1945 to 1953. Through authentic diaries and previously unpublished amateur family films, viewers will gain insight into the minds and hearts of those who lived in Czechoslovakia after World War II and often shaped it. Stories full of personal dilemmas, courage, and betrayal show how difficult it was to live in a country where politics interfered with everyday life.
