The City of the Poet

A modern film portrait that reveals the background of the visionary work of Anton Martin Slomsek. A story woven from many threads about a man who deeply respected the environment in which he grew up and later worked. With his determination and great efforts, he moved the domestic cultural space alongside other European nations, which were experiencing their renaissance in the middle of the 19th century. The Dawn is Near is an inspiring story about a man who knew the Slovenian soul and dedicated his entire life to it.

'Time of Wonder' is a combination of documentary and fiction short film. Documentary reveals the life story of writer Franc Ksaver Mesko, his creative work and love for his nation. Short film 'Beyond Home' is a blend of Mesko's different works, characters and stories; and is finally inserted into the 'Time of Wonder' documentary. In the documentary the word is given to different historians, professors, family members, modernists, parishioners and others, whose life might have met with Mesko in one way or another.

In the film Crowned, we follow the extraordinary story of Magdalena Gornik, who lived in the 19th century with mystical phenomena and faced opposition, yet persistently followed her mission of converting hearts and drawing near to God through suffering.

The life of the martyr Alojzij Grozde, from his childhood in a poor rural environment to his life as a promising student and finally his tragic death. The film combines dramatized re-enactments, interviews with experts and historians, and testimonies of those who came into contact with Grozde, shedding light on his character and the ideals he was committed to.

Nebesa pod Triglavom mirrors the real-life struggles of those forced to escape Slovenia under the threat of death during World War II. Weaving together multiple true stories into a fictional tale, the film revolves around a 13-year-old boy who helps run his family's convenience store in a town overshadowed by the presence of both Italian soldiers and partisans. He experiences his first crush, however, a fateful night shatters his innocence, propelling him into a world of profound choices between seeking revenge and embracing forgiveness.
