The Recurrence

On a quiet late-summer day, Alessandro and Flavio set out in search of the last secrets of their city. Sitting on the branch of a large cherry tree, they wait for the night. A beer with friends, mopeds heading home, and a farewell.

Clara is a retired ornithologist, convinced that she can find the last specimen of a very rare bird extincted for 40 years. Her obsession culminated in moving to a house on a mountain, into the middle of a forest. The fragility of her psyche forces her daughter Adele to join her and try to convince her to return home. But in the woods, Adele has an encounter that makes her stay longer than she would have imagined.

In early 1900s rural Trentino, Vanni and Agnese's life is upended by the arrival of Luzia, a young woman scarred by abuse. She claims to be a victim of the Mazaròl, a folkloric creature that kidnaps women in the woods.

After recreating his brother's voice as a child using artificial intelligence, Angelo finally has the opportunity to talk to him again, confessing the guilt he has carried with him until today.
