The ghost of a young German colonist, who died a couple of hundred years ago in unclear supernatural circumstances, appears in Chile to fulfill her mythical destiny. To achieve this, she will intervene in the life of an unsuccessful publicist and his lover.

Two thieves wander in the chilean desert and finally get to a small town near Bolivia. There, they try to include themselves with the townspeople but their instincts betray them and tragedy ensues. Based on a true story, this film opened one year after the chilean Coup de etat. The day after the opening, script girl Carmen Bueno and director of photography Jorge Müller were taken by police and now they are part of the list of the Desaparecidos.

Filmed during hard and decisive years of the democratic struggle against the regime of Augusto Pinochet, it is the first film in which a group of Chilean filmmakers, without anonymity try to give a global account of the Chilean situation of those days. The film reflects the vision and personal testimony of its director about his country at that moment.

It is one of the first returns from exile and a fundamental antecedent of the first-person documentary in Chile.
