Lucie, about to graduate university, has to stay in Paris for the summer to finish her master thesis. While she hopes to combine work and rest, she’s constantly distracted by the outside world, people in vacation, but also her own despise for routine…

It's a story of love and wallpaper. Alexei is a well-balanced young man, but ever since he bought wallpaper to decorate his apartment, he's been isolating himself... A veritable object of desire, the wallpaper with which he covers his interior obsesses him to the point of literally cutting him off from the rest of the world. Alone, as if lost in the middle of the ocean, he develops a strange passion for it that gradually consumes him.

Despite Lise's advice, Claire decides to celebrate Christmas with Leon, a young outcast who claims to live outside the system. They agree to organize an anticapitalist Christmas Eve, prohibiting all expenses. Meanwhile, Mathias delivers presents as Santa for a well-paid temporary assignment.

As the title suggests, Père et fille tells the story of a father growing up alone with his daughter after the premature death of the mother. If the premise is sad, director Quentin Papapietro manages to build a comedy in which the feeling of heartwarming fatherly love is staged with intelligence, and a great sense of cinema. With humour and a hint of absurdity, Père et fille offers a new way to consider family films.
