Along a desolate dike we find a young man together with his grandfather. As his grandfather shares stories about his eventful life, the young man struggles with his own inner journey. Between them a mysterious conversation unfolds that opens family wounds and confronts him with the waves of the past.

Four Rotterdam boys find solace and connection through a substitute form of spoken language, music, bridging the gap of a missing fifth. Without one, there is no other; without sorrow, no happiness. Together, we strive to endure the great unbearable existence.
