A Margem da Paisagem

A small poor community called Javé is under threat of being flooded by a new dam that is being built, and the only way to prevent this is to prove the town's historical value. As most of the inhabitants are illiterate, they have no choice but to ask for the help of Antônio Biá, a man who has been ostracized ever since it was discovered that he had sent out letters with lies about their reputations as a way to keep his job in Javé's seldom-used post office. He now has the task of documenting people's memories of how the city was founded, yet each inhabitant has his or her own version of what happened.

The Cambridge Squatter tells the story of refugees, recently arrived in Brazil who, together with a group of low-income workers, occupy an old abandoned building in downtown São Paulo. Daily dramas, comical situations and different views on the world commingle with the threat of impending eviction.

In the village of Kenoma, inside Brazil, the artisan Linnaeus tries to make a big and quixotic dream: to build a perpetual motion machine. His contract is opposed by Jerome, powerful local landowner, but he wins the aid of mysterious drifter who decides to stay in town after charmed with the beauty of the young Tari.

Through artistic manifestations, a group of LGBTQIA+ people performs public stagings that raise debates on issues of gender, social inequality and prejudice in the streets of downtown São Paulo. Messing with the popular imagination and providing debates, the artists explain their daily struggles to anyone who is interested in acquiring a new perspective on the most subtle layers of intolerance.

A violent and unruly man appears injured and without memory in a riverside community, who accuses him of robbery and tries, in vain, for him to recover his memory and return the money. In a popular trial, a plot involving domestic and gender-based violence, human trafficking and embezzlement of public funds comes to light. Sentenced to isolation, he seeks a new meaning for his life.

After a tragic crime of passion, Artur leaves the depths of Brazil on a journey in search of redemption. Early on, he meets Matuim, the anarchic captain of an old vessel, and comes to befriend him through a series of tense and comic situations.

The film explores the real and imaginary narratives of the quilombola communities of Alcântara / MA who have lived in conflict for more than thirty years with the intrusion of the Brazilian Space Project.
