Gay Man's Guide to Safer Sex '97

Titled after Holly Johnson's iconic anthem, Legendary Children [All Of Them Queer] follows many of the original pioneers of the 1972 and first European Pride March during events over the summer of Pride 50 when the UK marked its 50th anniversary in spectacular style. The headline cast encompasses some of the most genuinely influential figures in UK LGBTQIA+ rights activism and its history. Like their US counterparts in the two years following the Stonewall Riots, these remarkable individuals were there at the very start when Pride was taking its first steps in Europe too. We won't quite see their like again. Not a history lesson, the film is a lively, informal celebration and personal recollection of many stages along the way of 50 years of activism, both then and now, by those who were there.

The death in May 2023 of George Hodson, artist, writer and long-term HIV/AIDS survivor, leaves a legacy of inspiration, unique visual art and unforgettable writing, drawn from direct experience. Surviving HIV/AIDS for some 45 years, cancer, loss, stigma, alienating family bigotry and racism, for some of the Queer Elder generation like George, triple combination therapy threw a lifeline that also became a lifetime of onward challenge.

Shot on location in The Netherlands, this film explores the remarkable legacy of Bob Angelo (Niek Engelschman), a gay, half-Jewish Resistance agent who risked his life helping others during the Nazi occupation. After the war, inspired by the 1946 UN Declaration of Human Rights, he became a pioneering force behind LGBTQ+ rights in The Netherlands. Though known publicly as a successful TV actor, his hidden identity as Bob Angelo sparked lasting social change, helping shape the nation’s reputation for tolerance. With powerful music and a bold, unconventional approach, the film is a timely reminder of a legacy that still resonates—and one we may need now more than ever.
