Nostopathy at Large

What will our lives be like 10 years from now? Five up and coming Taiwanese directors each offer their own take in answering this question. In 2028, Taiwan is suffering from nuclear waste (“The Can of Anido”), migrant workers (“942”), industrial collapse (“Way Home”), low birth rates and diversity in families (“A Making-Of”), and insomnia (“The Sleep”).

A woman who has owned a barbershop for over 40 years determines to embark on a long journey to cut the hair of an old customer who has moved away and is too sick to travel.

In the village, the boy offers help but is turned down by everyone. Later his friend asks him to help on their fish farm and take the motor to the neighbouring village afterwards. But he loses the key and is determined to find it although the tide is coming in.

In the fall of 2022, in the midnight rain at the February 28th Peace Park, 'I' met a strange man who told me that he often came to play at midnight, and in the fall of 1954, in the midnight rain at the New Park in Taipei, Huang met a strange man who told him that he often came to play at midnight lately. These two intertwined periods of time and space reveal the encounters and emotional connections between gay men in Taiwan at different times.

Under the shadow of the global pandemic, two boys Wen-He and Jun-Yo meet and become good friends. However, a bribery scandal in a small village throws a gloom over their friendship and rival families. Wen-He and Jun-Yo have been kept apart by each of their families ever since. A pandemic in our generation isolates not only individuals but joint communities.

Minwei and his friend Aaron are engaged in part-time work in the pesticide spraying business, but Minwei's health is deteriorating due to long-term exposure to pesticides. Aaron advises Minwei to find another job, which leads to an argument between them.
