The Great Patriotic War. Two scouts, Georgian Vano and Kazakh Bakhytzhan, returning from a mission, fall under an air raid. Bakhytzhan saves Vano at the cost of his life. At the bedside of a dying comrade, Vano swears that their children will become related. However, Vano could not fulfill his promise, and now the grandchildren will have to fulfill the oath of their grandfathers.
