Yekaterina is a middle-aged woman who works as phone operator in call-center. After her son has been married, she feels that she lonely and abandoned. One day Yekaterina moves to her native village where she meets seasonal worker Fyodor and falls in love with him. But when summer is over Fyodor returned back to his wife.

Russian officer Pechorin falls in love with Bela, the daughter of a local chieftain. By tricking her brother Azamat into abducting her, he calls upon himself the wrath of horseman Kazbich.

A drama based on the novel of the same name by A. Priskavin. It tells the tragic story of two orphan brothers who, in 1944, were taken along with other children from an orphanage in a town near Moscow to the Caucasus, from where the Chechen population had been deported.

The film is based on real events that took place in Moscow in the early 1980s. A KGB officer in plain clothes returning late at night is detained by a police patrol at the Zhdanovskaya metro station. The officer, who began to actively protest against the arbitrariness, was taken to the police duty room and severely injured. After that, the police officers decided to finish off their victim and take the body away and dump it outside the city. The investigation is entrusted to Gleb Yarin, an investigator with the USSR Prosecutor's Office. Soon he finds himself involved in a confrontation between two irreconcilable rivals — the KGB and the Ministry of Internal Affairs. The senior police leadership is determined to cover up the scandal between the security agencies by any means necessary.

Dr. Fiedler, in a secret underground laboratory located in the reserve, is working on experiments to create bestial creatures endowed with human intelligence. It would seem that contact with the beasts on an equal footing took place, but devoid of human morality and compassion, beast-like creatures rebelled against their creators. The journalist Battley, who learns about the monstrous rumors from the reserve, decides to conduct his own investigation and goes to the wilderness, where he encounters the products of Fiedler's terrible experiences.

After the death of Bela, Pechorin was unwell for a long time, and then left the fortress and Maxim Maximych and left for Georgia. Since then, the headquarters captain had no news of his friend, often recalled and carefully carried his diaries in his wanderings. Five years have passed... Once at a post station near Vladikavkaz, Maxim Maximych with delight learns that Grigory Pechorin also came here. The long-awaited meeting brings an unbearable pain and bitterness of disappointment to the old warrior. In his hearts, he mercilessly parted with the travel notes of the ensign. And his random companion finds on the yellowed pages the story of the soul of an amazing, extraordinary person who brings misfortune to others all his life.
