This Is My Story

Gaither Gospel Series: Filmed at the Gaither studios in Indiana. Maybe it's the sweet harmonica of Buddy Greene and the vocals of Jessy Dixon and Bob Cain on "Leaning On The Everlasting Arms" or a "senior quartet" which features a 93-year-old surprise guest. Maybe it's the angelic voice of The Ruppes who make their Homecoming debut with "Angels In The Room." Whatever it is, there's a sweet, sweet spirit that will have you rewinding and watching again and again

On April 4th, 1968 the day Martin Luther King Jr. was assassinated, Robert Kennedy was in the midst of a presidential campaign that was attempting to bridge racial and economic divisions. If there is one word that threads itself through the Christian experience, that word would have to be Joy. Not the "pie in the sky" kind of joy that is oblivious to reality, but true joy even in the midst of pain and suffering. And that's the kind of joy you'll experience with all of your Homecoming Friends, as they fill a room with Something Beautiful.

You'd recognize the sound anywhere - the rich, deep bass voice, the clear resonating lead singer, the close 4-part harmonies, the excitement that only a Southern Gospel Quartet can create. Put it all together and you have the Cathedrals, probably the best-known gospel quartet. The sound of the group has always been woven around the two creators of the group, Glen Payne - lead, and George Younce - the bass. [Bill Gaither]
