Set in a village called Bettadapura, Gurushishyaru is a tale of Manohara who joins a school only for the sake of acquiring an experience certificate. But he is thrown into deeper conflicts when his connection gets stronger with students and the villagers. Set in 2004, a girl and a driver near the Tamil Nadu-Karnataka border become unwitting participants in a night filled with crime and conspiracy while trying to find each other.

The film is the narrative which emerges through various decades, encapsulating the lives of four people and their love lives while sending across a strong message relatable to the common man.
