For Sixty-One Lives

Occurring at the time of the Chinese Civil War, following the victory over Japan, Nationalist agents fail in trying to destroy the student movement in Beijing.

The Public Security Bureau intercept a telegram notifying foreign agents to retrieve the "110 secret". Shi Yan, head of the Reconnaissance Section, starts a campaign of counter-espionage, but one of his agents is soon killed on board a train.

Xia Zhenglan is a young beautiful ballerina, and bride. On her wedding night, her husband dies oddly which causes her to become mentally deranged. The police become suspicious of her actions which forces her to be drawn into the fight for her life.

Xiaoman and his younger sister Xiaojia picked up a curtain puppet named "Little Bell" on the road. The younger sister Xiaojia considered that Little Bell might still have performance tasks, and suggested returning it to the puppet troupe immediately.

Set in the Ming Dynasty of China. The daughter of administrator of Wuxi County is cheated by the son of a high-rank official and has a child. Then she lives a tragic life and dies in desperation finally because of ethics of the time.

"Toward a New China" tells the story of Chang Weiliang, a metallurgical engineer studying in the United States who was shattered in 1945 under the rule of the Kuomintang. His ideal of industrial salvation was shattered. After liberation, he saw that technicians were not respected. He was unhappy, not active, and could not see the power of the working class. Military representatives helped him raise his awareness. On October 1, 1949, New China was founded, and Engineer Chang and the workers became the masters of New China.
