The Sea is Calling

A film about the expulsion of the Kuomintang from the coastal islands of the People's Republic of China. In the early 1950s, with the aim of liberating Woyushang Island, the naval base headquarters sent the Third Artillery Squadron, commanded by Longjiang Li, to reconnoiter the enemy's firepower deployment. With the help of local fishermen, they defeated two enemy reconnaissance groups, demoralizing the enemy. The enemy transport ship left Chinese territorial waters. The political instructor led the artillery squadron to intercept the enemy ship to prevent it from bringing in reinforcements. As a result, the navy and air force launched a coordinated operation and liberated Voyushang Island.

A steel plant staff is in conflict over whether to use domestic materials or continue importing from the Soviet Union after the Soviet Union adopts an anti-Chinese position in 1972.

Adapted from a novel of the same title, this film depicts a young woman’s transformation from housewife to loyal Communist. This process is presented as “natural” – possessed of inherent logic rather than merely “incidental”. Hence, the film is really about Communist revolution that won over the hearts and minds of Chinese youth.

The government sends caravans to Miao villages periodically to provide goods which facilitate the folks. A detachment protects the caravans from robbery.

At the age of 16 Zhou Lian, who lost her parents at the age of two and was raised by a stepmother, marries Jiang Mei, a progressive young man from Changsha No. 1 Normal School. Jiang Meiqing has also lost both of his parents. The couple has two sons, Liqun, Xiaoqing and daughter Xiaolian. The film follows the family through turbulent times from 1924 to 1930.

Based on Zhu Dao-Nan's memoir "In the Flood of the Great Revolution", the film reproduces the historical picture of the changing circumstances of China before and after the Great Revolution through the pursuit, struggle and differentiation of young intellectuals such as Jin Gong-Shou, Gu Da-Ming, and Yang Ru-Kuan in the revolutionary tide.

Deals with the efforts of the Ninth Automobile Transportation Team deputy captain to improve public transit in rural Jiangcheng District, while simultaneously fighting mistaken lines of thought in the team and corruption and collusion with local black market thieves and operators taking advantage of the poor and inconvenient transport situation to fleece the local peasants.

Shot during 1976 to support the policy of Gang of four. The film wasn't released through normal distribution channels but shown as a cautionary example to criticize.
