Strangers Meet on the Way

Mainland Chinese 'Super Cop' Hwang Fri (Yu Rong Guong) is sent to Hong Kong to assist Scotland Yard trained James Fok (Michael Wong) in this surreal comedy.

May and her brother are inseparable as children. When May becomes an adolescent, she can't seem to let go of memories of her childhood, which seem to sustain her in her cold, loveless middle class home in Diamond Hill.

The new generation is rebellious and lacking in love. A group of youngsters is hanging out together aimlessly. They spend their life in a haze of dope violence and scrapes with the law. Eventually the girl gets pregnant, the guy is locked up in jail and ends up paralyzed due to drug abuse, and the rest get hooked to their blasted lives.

A young waiter joins a triad with a nice guy boss, and becomes involved in a war of retribution with a vicious bisexual gang leader whom they offend.

Wong decided to carry out counterfeit marriage in order to obtain a unit trust fund by deception. To earn enough fund for her marriage, Shan gets involved in Wong's plan by pretending to be Wong's wife. However, on the first night of the counterfeit marriage, Wong raped Shan. Thereafter, Shan's life turns into a sufferance and agonies of pain.

Undercover cop Lok Hwa takes two years to become the trusted lieutenant of rising Hong Kong drug lord, Feng. The night of the big bust, Feng's flaming car crashes spectacularly into the sea; Feng is presumed dead. Hwa returns to the force and to June, his patient girl friend. Also, to save Feng's lover Yung from a life of crime, Hwa gives her his pager number and promises to be there for her. A year later, Feng reappears, asking Hwa's aid with one last task before he returns to the mainland forever. Feeling sentimental, Hwa agrees to help and finds himself set up to take the fall in a drug war. June is in danger, too, and death awaits as Yung realizes it's Hwa she loves.

An honorable cop whose wife died in a firefight is unable to recover from the tragedy and devotes his whole life to his work.
