The Song of the Auricanturi

In a motel room in Cali, different people arrive with their own lives on their backs, finding a short rest. These people have no intention of leaving anything behind but there is something left from them printed on the soul of this place.

ATENTAMENTE is a film that, through the sensation of the time passing by and the presence of the death that wanders into a nursing home, allows us to feel the life through the illusion that love brings along. Libardo and Alba, a couple of elders who met each other at the nursing home where they live, they fall for, they become boyfriends and start to struggle in order to find fifty thousand pesos to rent a room for one night at a hotel so they can have a privacy moment, since at the nursing home where they live is not possible to have that. While struggling they must face each other, face their fears, their limitations, their pains, their time as well as their fragility so they can construct that moment in which they meet love. A struggle that seems to be easy, but for them is an odyssey against time, against their limitations and their own ghosts.

A story about human nature. Two characters depict their soul and personality on the prelude of a deal. 1989 shows the tragedy of violence, not as an act, but as a never ending spiral of short repeated stories.

This film is based on Marco’s story, a person who lives an identity disorder as a consequence of Colombia’s armed conflict, which forced him to change his identity three times. In his mother’s house, Marcos finds objects that take him to a world where his memories, fears and the ghosts of those men that he once was coexist. Marco has to face a part of the story that he wants to forget: Marco was part of the communist guerrilla. That truth will be revealed and Marco will lose his family. This film explores the limits between cinema, theater and performance.
