In the midst of an identity crisis, a young woman challenges her faith — and by extension challenges her friend's seemingly steadfast conviction of faith — revealing the creeping and poisonous nature of doubt.

After Alexander develops an obsession with chess, his solitary life is interrupted when he meets Roxie, a waitress at the local coffee shop. As the two grow closer, they navigate their differences in upbringing and priorities. Alexander's focus on the game of chess and Roxie's desire for more life experiences threaten to pull them apart. As Alexander prepares for a tournament, his relationships with both the game and Roxie come to a head, forcing him to make a decision about his future.
