Set in the Mayan civilization, when a man's idyllic presence is brutally disrupted by a violent invading force, he is taken on a perilous journey to a world ruled by fear and oppression where a harrowing end awaits him. Minerva, a single mother, works long hours a day to keep her ailing daughter in the hospital. One day, a mysterious man arrives at her door offering her to work in the translation of an ancient book in exchange for a substantial sum of money. Minerva accepts without knowing that this will change her life and that of those around her forever.

When Juan, a 35-year-old truck driver learns he has a daughter, he decides to become responsible. He quits alcohol and takes one last chance at his job, to deliver various goods to Mexico City. At a gas station, Vanesa, a Mexican Lolita with pink-dyed hair convinces Juan to let her go with him. A rebellious teenager and a broken man start a journey where they confront each other and their own demons only to realize that this strange encounter can awake something unexpected and beautiful in them.

The story of four teenagers: Negus, Chale, Sapo and Chata. Childhood friends living in public housing in a rundown area of Mexico City, search to trump idleness. They toy with the idea of robbing a movie theatre. Afflicted by their past and present stance, each find the motivation to complete the deed. The adventure pushes them to face their own realities and jeopardizes the only valuable possession: friendship
