Colma, a small town in Northern California, just ten miles south of San Francisco, has come to be known as a modern-day necropolis: since its incorporation in 1924, it has gathered a little over a thousand inhabitants and just under 2 million graves. Some of the city's inhabitants and frequent visitors share their experiences and thoughts on what it's like to be alive among the dead.

Drawing from an archive of letters written in the 1960s, the film reimagines women's clandestine journeys from across the United States to Mexican border towns to access underground abortion care.
