Two lovers, Prashant and Kiran, form a team to expose the corrupt politicians in Maharashtra. However, everyone gets shocked when he decides to enter politics and contest upcoming elections.

Sushmita and Jaanbaz live in India, and they are in love. They intend to marry, but Sushmita's family is strongly opposed to the marriage, since Jaanbaz is a Muslim and they are Hindus. But Sushmita and Jaanbaz do get married, and Jaanbaz takes her with him to his country--Afghanistan. On the way there, Sushmita is horrified to see mutilated corpses, bomb explosions, and armed militants. She is terrified and asks Jaanbaz to take her back, but Jaanbaz takes her to his home.

Makar Kanti Chatterjee is a semi-educated self-made businessman who tries hard but often fails to communicate in English. On the other hand, his brother-in-law, Suman, gets romantically involved with a woman married to a reticent forest officer, Ashoke Sanyal. The screenplay is based on the story, Baba Hoya and Swami Hoya, by Buddhadeb Guha.

Barobabu is inspired by the life and work of Shishirkumar Bhaduri, the towering figure of Bengali theatre. Rather than a chronological biopic, the film delves into his emotional world — a complex weave of love, art, and personal turmoil. It explores his deep connections with two actresses, Prabha Debi and Kankabati, both significant in his professional and personal life.

An aged couple, living on the outskirts of Kolkata, is deeply affected by the treatment given to them by their children and decide to attempt suicide.
