The Stain

What Women Will Do

During a staged seance, Mrs. Wade is manipulated into believing that Lily was her son's secret wife. Mrs. Wade takes Lily into her home, showering her with wealth and affection. While living this lie, Lily falls in love with Arthur Brent, a man who treats her with genuine kindness. This new experience makes her want to leave her criminal past behind. Lily's resolve to break away is cemented when she discovers that Dr. Joe was responsible for the death of Mrs. Wade's son. After both of her former criminal associates meet their deaths, Lily confesses her deception to Mrs. Wade. She is forgiven and finds happiness, marrying Brent.

A Leech of Industry

Margaret, still bitter at being spurned, works with Ivan’s competitor to steal information on his bid for the job. Ivan discovers the plot in time and a race to the state capital ensues between him on a special train and his adversaries in a car alongside. A collision leads to a divisive victory for Ivan who also comes to realize his heart truly belongs to Irma.

My Cousin

Sincere but struggling sculptor Tommasso (Caruso--bushy moustache, gawky) works in an ornamental plaster shop, but his masterpiece on the side is a bust of his cousin Caroli (Caruso--no moustache, polished), who is the Metropolitan Opera's leading tenor. Tommasso hopes to marry his model Rosa, but her father, restaurant owner Pietro, wants her to find someone more settled and money-conscious, such as the greengrocer Lombardi down the street. Tommasso, he says, throws away his money, such as for a pair of tickets to take Rosa to the opera to see his famed cousin. After the opera, the cousins cross paths in the swanky Galeotto's restaurant, but when neither recognizes the other, Tommasso is generally mocked and Rosa believes him a liar and unworthy. Tommasso must recover his reputation and make a sale, preferably the Caroli bust to his cousin, in order to win Rosa back.

The Perils of Pauline

The Perils of Pauline is a motion picture serial shown in weekly installments featuring the actress Pearl White playing the title character. Pauline has often been cited as a famous example of a damsel-in-distress, although viewers will find her character more resourceful and less helpless than the classic 'damsel' stereotype.
