Long-time portrait of a turkish Coaldealer in Berlin Kreuzberg. Ahmed is almost the last Coaldealer in Berlin. Since 2001 Volker Meyer-Dabisch is documenting the life and work of the family Özdemir. One marriage, one imprisonment, and much more is narrated, lots of pocketmoney is been begged. Oktay, one of the sons of the family is becoming a famous actor, tons of coals are carried, and in the end of the film Ahmed is back at the setout. His wife has left him, he has got no contact to his children anymore, the Coal- Shop is closed, but two constants are still there: He is carrying coals for some steady custumers and his humor which gives him the power to go on another time.

14-year-old Leila is only supposed to have her tonsils operated on, a routine procedure. But when she wakes up from the anesthesia, she is suddenly blind. While the doctors are completely at a loss to explain how this could have happened, Leila's father Attila is beside himself. In his opinion, the doctors botched the operation. From day to day, he gets more and more involved in this thought and gets into a downward spiral that seems to have no end. Meanwhile, the family members drift further and further away from each other and become increasingly estranged. One day Attila finally makes a decision that will have consequences...

Drama set in a women's prison in Germany. Susanne Teubner, a sympathetic young woman who has killed her husband in an affect, is poorly advised by her lawyer and sentenced to life imprisonment for willful murder. The arrival in prison is a shock to her. Resigned and exhausted, she endures the degrading admission procedure. She doesn't notice that the young doctor Dr. Beck immediately felt more than professional interest for her.

Spanning 1919 to 1982, in the fictional village of Schabbach, live Maria Simon and her family, whose lives and community are changed by historical events around them.
