Uladhaal is about a gold shield created in the 1700s by a Maratha King to honour a warrior, Somajirao, for saving his life. The shield was protected by Somajirao’s family and the next generations. But the precious possession is stolen en-route by a renowned thief, Guru and his gang. But as fate has it, it gets stolen from Guru and the rest is a hilarious trip of complications.

Abhi is forced into an unwanted marriage and escapes on the wedding day. On the same train, Kriti, also a runaway bride, is fleeing her own fate. Strangers brought together by chance and misunderstandings, their journey turns into one of conflict, connection, and self-discovery. As emotions unfold, they must face a question: Does running away truly set you free?

Aman Joshi (Aman Verma) is on a research assignment. His subject is the chawl dwellers in Bombay City. He rents a small tenement there and talks to the people living there. He soon gets involved in their lives, and even gets attracted to plain-looking Saundarya (Divya Mirza), who he transforms into a beauty, after a cosmetic makeover. Aman's kindness is mistaken for generosity by all the chawl dwellers, and they swarm him for his money, trying to get loans and gifts, to improve their lives. His helpless uncle after witnessing the thumb rule, rushes him to the city in search of an elder nephew (Bharat Jadhav) of the ex-serviceman. Thus begins the revenge

Mouli's wife Manda (Madhavi Juvekar) tries her best to sustain the family on the little that they have. Mouli and Manda's children Shyam (Chinmay Kambli) and Dipti (Aarti More) go to the local school - and both are bright children who have a lot to look forward to. Shyam wants to become 'someone' and Dipti has her first crush ! When it seems that all is lost - including the land - and suicide is the only option - Shyam decides that he is not going to die and tries his best to save the family. What he does and the alternative to suicide and debt free farming (the word used in the film is swawalambhi) is the crux of the film.
