Charlotte Ekeblad though, is torn between a family life as a woman, and the opportunity to make a career. In the middle of this stands a husband not really sure what to think of becoming number two in the family, and a resistance in the male domination of the government. A penetrating portrayal of the innermost essence of power, an exciting story about those who rule and those who suffer, about power and powerlessness, and ultimately: about perpetrators and victims. It is election night. Linda Jakobsson, married for 30 years to the Social Democratic finance minister Gert Jakobsson, sits at home on the sofa watching the election drama unfold on TV. Linda hears the commentators talking about the Social Democrats' biggest defeat, and just a glimpse of her better half on TV is enough: she can see that he has now decided to crush Prime Minister Per Viksten and take over as party leader himself. She can see it because she knows her husband as the power-hungry person he is. Mentally and physically, he has been exploiting his power over her for many years now.
