The discovery of a diary, written in 1848 in Texas, Mexican territory, triggers Miranda Sámano's decision to travel, illegally to that land, in search of her roots and her origin and to unravel the mysteries written by Amalia Sámano in that diary. The love affair that Miranda has with Matt in Texas seems to be the continuation of the one that Doña Amalia and the Houston army colonel Robert Crossman had almost 160 years ago; and it definitely resembles the relationship that Mexico and the United States have had throughout history and whose tragic outcome we can avoid if we do an exercise of our memory.

Tomás is an attractive television host who hosts a program about cooking recipes. His biggest admirer is Rosa Moscoso, a fat woman who has gastronomy as a quality. Tomás is dating Fernanda Montenegro, a friend of Rosa, a spoiled and arrogant woman. Tomás ends up losing his memory in an accident and a series of incidents end up making Tomás' family and friends believe that Rosa is Tomás' girlfriend. Marta has a romance with Manuel, but Sofia and Armando are opposed. Ines and Renato, who are Gerardo's parents, also are opposed to his romance with Cecilia. She breaks up the romance and goes to sor Angelina's nunnery to become a nun. Sonia and Roberto try to separate Gerardo from Cecilia. Then Cecilia finds out the truth about her birth and meets padre Julio. Natalia discovers that Evangelina tries to appropriate the whole patrimony of Cecilia and Evangelina kills her.
