It was recorded before a live audience at the Hollywood Palladium in Los Angeles, California, on February 8, 2011 and released by Fonovisa Records on May 24, 2011. In 2010, Rage Against The Machine played a free gig at Finsbury Park in London, after their track "Killing In The Name" topped the UK charts at Christmas 2009. The band promised this free concert if a campaign to get the single to the top of the charts above the X-Factor's single was successful.
