The movie is based on the true story of Takumi Asakawa - a Japanese man who entered Korea during the country's occupation by Japan. Takumi Asakawa became captivated by Korean culture and championed the value of such items as the traditional white Korean porcelain.

The drama revolves around Kounotori Sakura, an Ob-Gyn doctor working at the Persona General Medical Centre who is also a gifted jazz pianist. His mother had died in childbirth and he was brought up in an orphanage, which is what fueled his ambition to be an ob-gyn. Customers who eat the “food with memories”, which are the fruits of the efforts of Koishi and Nagare, will leave Kamogawa Shokudo, finding the courage to live and pleasures of life.
