An author searches for cues about the life of a girl confined in a community home before her suicide. While trying to put together a literary piece he increasingly becomes aware of the insignificance of his own creative work. He has no insight in any world but his own.

In beautiful pictures and few words, the longing of two outsiders for a different, better life is told.

Not even on vacation does building tycoon Harald Rehm (Willy Fritsch) look after his son Nils. He would much rather inspect a building site in the mountains or make out with governess Margret (Josefin Kipper). When Nils runs away and promptly gets stuck in the mountains, Rehm has to show some real fatherly love.

Divorce lawyer Dr. Winifred Lert tries to convince her daughter Susi of the futility of marriage. But Susi has long since married herself. Susi also wants to use trickery to bring her parents back together.

Hubert Gerold, the new forester of the Silver Forest, fights against the deforestation of his idyllic forest with the help of the court councilor. He actually succeeds in convincing the local council to sell building land instead of the forest. When Hubert meets Liesl, the court councilor's granddaughter, at a hunters' ball, his happiness seems complete. But while he is showing her the beauties of the Silver Forest, Liesl's admirer, Max, arrives from Vienna, determined to prevent their relationship at all costs.

This classic tale takes place on the night before Christmas when Clara and Franz receive a Nutcracker as a gift from their uncle. This present sparks a magical dream, and a night filled with amazing stories and characters. The Mouse King, Sugar Fairies, Chime Puppets and other timeless characters, make this ballet, set to Tchaikovsky's music, an unforgettable experience.
