1918, shortly before the end of the Great War, an Austrian soldier passes the barrier of the Italian lines and escapes. He is very young, alone, scared. During his journey in that enemy land, so similar to his own, the thoughts of the terrible experience on the front alternate with childhood memories. Along the way, death takes him and puts him back into the flow of nature, to which he has always felt he belonged.

Three young musicians think they have luck on their side when they score the keys to a beautiful villa outside of Rome for the weekend. Unfortunately, they soon discover that they are not alone.

Alberto Saporito spent a very eventful night. His friend Aniello Amitrano was brutally killed and his body was hidden by his neighbors, the Cimmarutas. Nicola is a man who has spent much of his life in a mental institution, though not always as a patient. As an adult, Nicola has spent enough time around people who have a tenuous connection with reality that he has a superficial resemblance to them, and has developed a strange set of imaginary friends to go along with his eccentric real-life companions and the woman he loves from afar, Marinella.

It's Sciarra's last day of work and he has to take Domenica to the morgue, to identify a man who might have raped her. To Domenica, Sciarra is a father she never had, to him she is the daughter he couldn't have.

Alfonso is a Neapolitan scientist, shy, awkward and unemployed. Gayan is a former Sri Lankan cricket champion who is penniless, just arrived in Naples and convinced he will find Paradise. Vincenzo is a rising politician thanks also to recommendations, but things do not go as he would have hoped. In a multi-ethnic Naples, the destinies of these three characters intertwine, who find themselves sharing a shack built illegally on the roof of a building. This paradoxical situation will give rise to a hilarious cohabitation between the three and a partnership that will make them find the courage to face their own destiny, changing it forever.

The Beggar's Opera is one of the earliest examples of a Musical in the history of theater (from which Bertolt Brecht and Kurt Weill drew inspiration for the Threepenny Opera). A crowd of thieves and prostitutes, fences and swindlers, speaking various dialects with Peppe Servillo as the shady fence, Angela Baraldi (the wife), Marco Alemanno and opera singer Borja Quiza Martinez (Captain Uccello) directed by Lucio Dalla. New translation and dramaturgical version by Giuseppe Di Leva of John Gay's play transported from the slums of 18th-century London to the Bologna of today.
