The film is dedicated to the great Russian composer Pyotr Tchaikovsky (1840-1893). It tells of the last twenty years of the great master’s life, of his friendship with Baroness von Meck, an outstanding woman of her time, who for many years was Tchaikovsky’s guardian angel. The film also includes retrospections of the composer’s childhood and adolescent years, with Tchaikovsky’s life poetically recounted against the background of fragments from his operas and ballets performed by the best Russian musicians.

In the surreal aftermath to a plane crash at sea Dr. Evan an eminent scientist is the only survivor to be taken into the confidence of the alien rescuers. He learns that the world with its weapons of mass destruction is not ready for the wonders of the culture of the pacifist visitors. The situation is further complicated by the close relationship that blossoms between the doctor and the female alien, and due to this relationship he is the only survivor allowed to retain his memory of the events, unlike the other survivors including his wife, whose memories are erased.

His clashes with the director of Proshin lead to serious troubles. Martyanov fights for the truth, refusing compromises, and although he loses his post, he receives support from friends and wife.

The adopted daughter of Dr. Skvortsov, Tanya, having learned that her mother is alive, who was considered dead during the bombing of World War II, decides to go to her in a distant village on vacation.

The courage to preserve one's integrity in trying times.

Fyodor Mozzhukhin, having worked for several years on different construction sites of the country, returned to his native village and organized a team of mechanics working on a contract basis in the collective farm.
