In the middle of the night, in a deserted mall, a young cashier and a lost man meet each other around a cup of instant noodles and a broken computer.

Living in Paris with the daughter of legendary filmmaker Charles Johnson, an aspiring writer named Ernie is given the once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to write the elusive artist's biography. What begins as an attempt to uncover a hidden chapter of Charles's past gradually draws Ernie into Charles's carefully constructed world, where truth and performance become impossible to separate, forcing Ernie to question whether history is something to be discovered or created. As admiration gives way to suspicion, he must decide what to believe about a man whose greatest creation may not have been his films, but the mythology surrounding them.
