From the Rai “Arturo Toscanini” Auditorium, pianist Vadym Kholodenko performs, for his debut with the Rai Orchestra, Sergei Rachmaninoff’s Piano Concerto No. 3 in D minor, perhaps the most complex and demanding of the Russian composer’s four concertos. Conducting is Uzbek maestro Aziz Shokhakimov, who presents the final version, from 1947, of the famous ballet Petrushka, on the occasion of the fiftieth anniversary of Igor Stravinsky’s death.

From the RAI “Arturo Toscanini” Auditorium in Turin, the RAI National Symphony Orchestra performs Johann Sebastian Bach’s Mass in B minor, conducted by Ottavio Dantone. Joining him are soprano Berit Solset, contralto Delphine Galou, tenor Martin Vanberg, and bass Matthew Brook.

From the Rai ‘Arturo Toscanini’ Auditorium, a concert by the Rai National Symphony Orchestra conducted by Trevor Pinnock. He is joined by pianist Christian Blackshaw. The programme features works by Mozart and Schubert.

From the Toscanini Auditorium in Turin: Pergolesi’s Concerto in G major for flute, strings and bass; Johann Sebastian Bach’s Suite-Overture No. 2 in B minor, BWV 1067, for flute, strings and bass; Giovanni Battista Pergolesi’s Stabat Mater. Conducted by Fabio Biondi, with Jennifer O’Loughlin (soprano) and Sara Mingardo (contralto).

From Sermig in Turin, the professors of the RAI OSN perform: Corelli’s Concerto Grosso in F major, Op. 6, No. 9; Bach’s Brandenburg Concerto No. 5 in D major for flute, violin, harpsichord, and strings; and Handel’s Concerto Grosso in B minor, Op. 6, No. 12.

From the Rai ‘Arturo Toscanini’ Auditorium in Turin, conductor Ion Marin and Czech mezzo-soprano Magdalena Kožená pay tribute to the Italian composer Luciano Berio with his *Folk Songs* for voice and orchestra, followed by *Rendering*, based on Schubert’s sketches for an unfinished Tenth Symphony. Between the two pieces by Luciano Berio, Ion Marin presents Arvo Pärt’s Cantus in Memory of Benjamin Britten.

From the Rai “Arturo Toscanini” Auditorium, Russian pianist Alexander Melnikov, together with the Rai Orchestra's principal trumpet Roberto Rossi, performs Dmitri Shostakovich's Concerto in C minor for Piano, Trumpet, and Strings, Op. 26. Conducting is James Feddeck, who opens and closes the concert with two works by Felix Mendelssohn-Bartholdy: the Overture from the Concerto in B minor, Op. 26, “The Hebrides,” and Symphony No. 3 in A minor, Op. 56, known as the “Scottish.”

From the RAI “Arturo Toscanini” Auditorium in Turin, the RAI National Symphony Orchestra pays tribute to Igor Stravinsky, on the fiftieth anniversary of his death, with *Pulcinella* conducted by Ottavio Dantone, one of the foremost interpreters of early music, a harpsichordist and conductor, and a leading expert and scholar of Baroque performance practice. The vocal parts are performed by mezzo-soprano Paola Gardina, the young Australian tenor Alasdair Kent, and bass-baritone Paolo Bordogna. The evening concludes with Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart’s famous Symphony No. 41 in C major, K. 551, known as “Jupiter.”
