Super-soldier recruit Tsui Chik is forced to escape with his comrades after the project is canceled. Months later, he's trying to have a quiet life as a librarian with his best friend, Inspector Shek Wai-Ho. However, a string of vicious gangland murders begins that has all the markings of Tsui's former compatriots who seem to have turned to crime. From a camping trip, a college girl took home an ancient rope to use to keep her torn backpack in place, not knowing it was used by a disgraced scholar to hang himself with decades before. The scholar's ghost resurrects at her school and befriended her and her two friends, and teaches them the importance of academic success, love, family and friendship.

Building designer Bill Chang and his family move into a seemingly wonderful house after getting a promotion. After the Chang family settled in, the actor's restless ghost wants to reclaim ownership of the house and the people that inhabit it.

Stephen Chow plays a selfish yet in some places kind hearted barrister who tricks his servant in doing things for his own benefit. Eric Kot playing the servant is misguided by what he thinks is love and leaves Chow vowing that he will never need Chow's help again in life. Shortly afterwards Kot gets into some big trouble (due to be executed) with the British and calls on Chow for help. Chow tries to help his client, but is fish out of water when he has to fight this court room case according to western rules.
