A remote Uzbek village is ravaged by a merciless drought. The desperate inhabitants resort to ancient rituals in an attempt to alter their cruel fate. However, for some individuals the suffering goes even deeper: Usman, an ousted journalist who now works as a teacher, has written an article about the rape of an underaged female student. Instead of justice being served, the crime is covered up. Even worse: Hozhar, the student in question, is not permitted to leave her house, on the orders of her father, while Usman is arrested for defamation and thrown in jail. Ahbor, the film's protagonist, a high-ranking civil servant who recently quit his job, heeds his old university friend's call for help and travels to the village, where he attempts everything in his power to restore both the girl's honour and that of his friend.

Doniyor has the supernatural power to heal seriously ill people with incurable pain. Thanks to his ability, not a single sick person remained in his village. Shuhrat Shodmonov, a big businessman from Tashkent, comes to him and asks him to treat his granddaughter.

Is it possible to escape from fate if you live quietly and unnoticed, without causing harm to anyone? It turns out it's impossible. Thus, the arrival of a famous singer and a popular TV journalist entails fatal and unpredictable events.

1989. The former Captain of the Soviet Army Saidulla lives alone in a small house. His son lives in the same village but he does not associate with his father and does not permit the grandson to have contact with his grandfather. He often has a vision: he is visited by an old army friend. He looks exactly the same as he saw him alive for the last time – in the uniform and with an automat-ic gun. Once during a medical check-up Saidulla learns that he has cancer. He does not have much time left but he has to solve the most important problems: provide water-supply for the school, make it up with his son and pay a visit to his former colleague.

Tashkent, 1942. At this time, the hospitable city became a refuge for tens of thousands of people tired of hunger and cold war years. In urban stores, warehouses and markets in abundance of food and other goods. All this attracts the attention of criminals of different stripes, who in search of easy money gathered in Tashkent from all over the vast country. There are several criminal groups here.
