The situation which evolves as a result of the new co-tenancy forces them to cover up things before their partners.

The "sleepless years" in this propaganda piece by director Felix Marlassy occur on Csepel Island, an island south of Budapest that is home to an armaments factory. The factory workers are shown being exploited by imperialists, capitalists gone berserk, and fascists, more or less in that exact chronological sequence. The heavy-handed approach does much to undercut the belief that when socialism finally takes over, the lives of the workers are brought up to a human level. In this instance, audiences might prefer a more nuanced and subtle statement, no matter what the message.

The film is a satire about the anomalies of small town life. 1952. Barka Sándor, inspector of wines, arrives in Nagyrozsdás. As a result of a trick played on him by his driver, he is taken to be a minister in the steam-bath. The news that the minister is a relative of the masseur spreads with lightning speed. The corrupt leaders of the small town do their best to please the masseur.

Sword and Dice

During the freedom fight led by Rákóczi, Schwartzenau carries the wages of the Emperor's soldiers to Tokaj. A small group of freedom-fighters, led by Captain Árvay, attack the major's escort, then hide in the local inn. Árvay introduces himself to the entering Schartzenau as a Hungarian aristocrat, while Simon Pali rushes to get help. The major has a passion for games, they start throwing dice.

At the same time seriously wounded a servant of the museum. The abduction of the museum's priceless statues of pure gold is investigated by the then young and inexperienced investigator Kardos and lieutenant "Droplet".

Good Evening, Love

The movie version of Endre Fejes' short story is based on a case that happened in the early 1960s. A psychopathic working-class boy changes his identity for a few days on his hard-earned money. He pretends to be a Greek diplomat, pays for luxurious dinners, courts elegant women, and of course, always disappears before the engagement. But he falls in love with the beautiful Zsuzsa Christmas and can't leave her in time.

Captain of the Forest

This entertaining film highlights the importance of integrity, justice, and appreciation for the environment. The compassionate and wise Captain is the hero, who is trying to stop long-time troublemaker and master of disguise Zero the Cat as he plans his biggest coup ever. Helping the Captain along the way are the bright Constable Eleméri Ede and seasoned secret agent Góliát. The resourceful Gólíat succeeds in locating Zero's hiding place, where he overhears part of Zero's newest plan. Although unable to get all the details, Gólíat reports to the station and it becomes clear that stopping Zero will be quite a challenge.

The young crane-operator lives in a small larder-room, where he has to hang his chair on the wall and the tap drips. He has to share his mornings with his two dream "man-hunters", his father and his brother, who feel that he does not belong to them because of his desires and ambitions.

A Tenkes kapitánya

The film version of the hit TV film series recreates the Kuruc-Labanc skirmishes. On the orders of the Kuruc brigadier Ádám Balogh of Béri, the cunning Eke Máté collects the poor. They set out from their farmhouse in Tenkeshegy Castle to raid against the Laban, crushing the Siklós Laban colonel's nose in the process, and then take the castle. Máté continues the fight against the Labanc as the Kuruc captain of the Siklós castle.

It has adventure, and treasure, and love, and a little black cat, and a war, and picturesque villains - a governor with a pressure release valve in his skull and a fat pig-loving baron, and of course, the good gypsies.

The Naked Diplomat

Félix, a somewhat clod-hopping young man, finds himself in the Grand Hotel of Little Lagonda, barefooted and in pyjamas. He is soon followed by a hooded, fat and leggy gangster. This is all the more strange as the hotel is under quarantine with the pretext of a plague-epidemic, in order to make it a suitable ground for the negotiations of certain oil-companies.

Szomszédok was a Hungarian television series, occasionally called the Hungarian Dallas, that ran from 1987–1999 and produced 331 episodes, airing its grand finale on December 31, 1999. The series was a soap opera, dealing with the lives of ordinary people, living and working in or around an average lakótelep. Its characters were explored, over time, in equal depth: ranging from elderly pensioners, busy middle aged professionals, up-and-coming young people, and children growing into their teens. Many consider Szomszédok to be the definitive Hungarian television series, being a period piece of sorts that covers the last few years of the communist era, the rendszerváltozás, and nearly a decade of the new market economy Hungary thereafter.
