Among Delia, a socialite, and Jorge a bohemian cabaret pianist, begins a relationship that ends in tragedy.

In 1920s Mexico, the candidates being chosen to succeed the current president, El Caudillo, find themselves at his mercy as he will resort to anything to accomplish his will, including kidnapping, betrayal, and murder.

Businessman Carlos meets Ana María in a Mexico City nightclub. He escorts her home, and makes a date for the next day. Ana María is actually a prostitute whose pimp, Arturo, thinks Carlos would be a good client, and urges her to be nice to him. They fall in love, and Carlos proposes marriage to her, indicating he must return to Puerto Rico soon.

Repressed middle-aged Catholic gets into a troublesome relationship with the prostitute next door and her little boy.

Young woman is sorta trapped into working as a bar-girl because of her unwitting complicity in a murder. Meanwhile, the tough broad who owns the bar faces problems of her own, mostly centered around a philandering boyfriend and an over-ambitious adopted daughter.

This film tells several short stories that end up lapsing in the emergency room of a hospital, because it is dedicated to nurses. Cantinflas appears at the end of the film playing the role of Luis, a man who has five daughters and looks forward to a boy, but fate plays a trick and the child dies at birth, but history gives a nice twist and a message of hope.
