Arunachalam Sakunthala (1 November 1939 – 17 September 2024), also known as C. I. D. Sakunthala, was an Indian actress. She filled roles as a heroine, item number dancer, and villainess in over 600 Tamil, Telugu, Kannada and Malayalam films.

Murugan's wife commits suicide, fearing the advances of the local landlord, and her infant son Ravi is orphaned. Gopinath conceals Ravi's true identity from him and raises him as his own son. Ravi grows up to become a lawyer. Meanwhile, Murugan is released from prison and searches for his son. Though beseeched by Radha not to do so, Gopinath is unable to lie and reveals to Ravi the truth about his parentage.

An honest police constable has a son (R. Muthuraman) and a daughter (C. R. Vijayakumari). Balaji, son of a rich affluent person is a friend of Muthuraman who often visit his house. Balaji falls in love with Vijaykumari to which she equally reciprocates. She meets Balaji secretly without the knowledge of both her father and brother. One day, Balaji's notorious friends commit a murder and they fled the scene using Balaji's car. At the same point of time, Balaji meets his love in a temple and promises to marry her. Meanwhile, Balaji's father plans to marry his son to one of this relative. Balaji initially discards this proposal but accepts after coming to know that he will be deprived of his father's wealth if he doesn't marry the girl arranged by his father. Vijaykumari is shocked to hear this and finally tells her relationship with Balaji to her parents.

The film start had in its title sequence in which a Politician is killed by a Suicide bomber who explodes her explosive belt. C. I. D. Shankar and his assistant Raju(Thengai Srinivasan is deputed to the Nilgiris to investigate a case of mysterious murder. C. I. D. Ashokan(Pakkirisamy) also stay for the town, who pose at research of herbal, his close relation of lover's club dancer Reeta(Jayakumari). Ashokan finds all truth and he goes to Nagamalai estate, where he gives lift to a young girl who explodes her belt.Ashokan gives diary and locker key to Vithya(Sakunthala) who saves his life and admits him in the hospital. But unfortuneately ashokan was killed by the mysterious gang in hospital. Vithya gives the things to Shankar and both fall in love. Raju falls in love with actress Rama(Kumari Radha), who also stays in the same hotel. Shankar meet Reeta and asks her to help him. She gives information to his assistant Raju and later on she is killed by the same mysterious gang.
