Dr. Pomerantz

Doctor Yoel Pomerantz is a washed-up, self-loathing psychologist who lives on the 12th floor of a high-rise with his Aspberger's son, Yoav, who spends his days pretending to be a traffic cop and proudly giving out parking tickets. Dr. Pomerantz sees a few patients a week, barely enough to keep he and Yoav in ramen noodles and with a roof over their heads. In addition, he works shifts at a suicide hotline. When he gets desperate financially, he recruits hotline callers to see him privately, which is discovered and results in his getting unceremoniously fired.

Guttman X 5

Five short movies, linked by an animation, inspired by the life and work of Amos Guttman, the director from Transylvania who was a pioneer in Israeli gay cinema and died from AIDS in 1993. Produced by Tel Aviv Film Festival, it is a mixture of different styles and genres and is directed by six film-makers. In the last moving episode Kati Guttman celebrates his son, who passed away twenty years ago, and also recalls for the first time his own deportation to the Nazi death camps.

The Jews

Big Bad Wolves

The twisted paths of three very different men brutally collide due to a chain of unspeakable murders: a grieving father who has been doomed to seek vengeance and a police detective who boldly crosses the narrow boundary between law and crime meet a religion teacher suspected of being the murderer.

Seven Jewish Children

Based on the play by Caryl Churchill, this film shows the Jewish journey from Russia in 1903 to Palestine in 2009. It humanizes and visualizes the progression from oppressed to oppressors whilst imploring it's audience for open conversation and empathy.

Kirschenbaum

Seven years after his death, Motti Kirschenbaum’s eldest son Cana'an decides to open the great archive left behind by his father. The archive clips, old films and photos paint a picture of one of the most important and busy television producers in Israel. The son traces Motti’s long career, along the way he meets journalists and actors who worked with Kirschenbaum over the years and reveals the lesser-known sides of his personality, his function as a spouse, father and friend.

The Property

Two months after the death of her son, Regina (83) travels to Poland with her granddaughter Mika (30). The trip’s stated purpose is to retrieve the family’s property confiscated during World War II. But Regina has a secret ulterior motive: to find her first love, whom she was forced to leave 70 years ago.

King for a Day

A hotel porter, who a long time ago divorced his wife and his daughter with her in America, is alarmed when a beautiful girl arrives at his hotel looking for her supposedly rich father. The porter had been sending back money and describing himself as a well-to-do businessman. With the help of his hotel friends, he becomes the guest of honor and takes her on a tour of Israel, all the time trying to avoid revealing his true work.

The Traveler's Prayer

Amazing Grace

A drama about two families, each with a gay son. Jonathan is splitting from Miki because the more experienced Miki is playing around. Then Jonathan sees Thomas, the son and grandson of his neighbors, who is back in Israel after failing to make it as a musician in New York: Thomas is ill, detached, in search of hard drugs. Jonathan tries to connect with him. Meanwhile, Thomas's grandmother, facing old age, has become bitter, particularly toward her hard-working daughter. They worry about Thomas. A few blocks away, Jonathan's mother, brother and sister maintain their sometimes bickering relationships, watching Jonathan brave adulthood.
