Erik Menkel is released after six years, convicted of the murder of Viktor Smith. He is sought out by an old college friend of Smith's, who wants Menkel to finish Smith's work. At the same time, Menkel knew a young woman who is looking for him. Jerle lets Erik Menkel disappear so that no one knows Menkel is still alive. Barbara discovers that Menkel is living with Jerle and seeks him out. Jerle has a terrible secret.

Marianne is a sales assistant at the elegant fashion boutique Chez Madame on Strøget. A picture of the life of the Danish people from the late 1820s to the introduction of the free constitution in 1849. A fictional character, Rasmus Nielsen, travels around the country, first as a traveling teacher, later in other positions, and through his experiences we are introduced to the conditions of various population groups. The central figure in the portrayal of historical figures is the politician Orla Lehmann.

A lottery win allows the kitchen girl Hansy Hansen to lodge at an upmarket seaside hotel where the widower landowner Rosen falls in love with her. However, Rosen is in financial difficulties because of the lawyer Sadolin, who reneged on marrying his daughter. He puts everything he can into the daughter's horse to win a race.

A woman is found strangled in her shop. Shortly after, another murder is committed. Perhaps the most terrifying is that the both girls' name is Sonja. The police is convinced it's the same killer and at each scene is heard a woman singing the same song. A song which is soon dubbed the 'murder melody.'

In 1801, the composer Weyse's cousin, the cheerful Henriette Frisch, advised her cousin to take in some student boarders in the house, so that he would not have to provide so much musical information, but could have more time to compose. The result, however, was that Weyse had to take on even more students to feed the boarders, and it was particularly bad with the gifted student Kramer, whose wealthy uncle would not send any more money.

When a young woman falls in love with a gown in a shop window it leads to adventure and romance exceeding even her own vivid imagination.

Who decides where the cupboard should go in a marriage? The film begins with three cheerful movers, Karl, Fredrik, and Lasse, struggling with a pompous cupboard because an accountant and his wife cannot agree on where it should go. Of course, they eventually agree. Mrs. Accountant is the one who decides. As the three stable brothers drive the moving van away, they run over a young girl. Her name is Lone, and she is the daughter of the accountant they were moving for. She is taken to the hospital with a broken leg. However, love has also entered the picture.

At the old Copenhagen Castle, a strange drama is played out in the year 1699 - the last year of King Christian V's life. One winter day, the young Junker Friedrich von Kötschau comes from Hesse to Christian V's court. The old gloomy castle is filled with sadness, where the king's increasing weakness puts a damper on all the joy of life. Friedrich von Kötschau is a handsome young nobleman, and even His Majesty is delighted with his many cheerful inventions. In addition, he has a prescription for gold, and the king gives him permission to experiment in the castle cellar with the old palace pharmacist Paulus.

A young, beautiful girl arrives at Krogerød Kro on Mols and shocks the innkeeper by telling him that he is her father. At the same time, the inn is about to lose its liquor license, threatening its very existence. The innkeeper tells the girl that both he and his friend from his military days have paid child support to her, as no one knew which of them was her real father.

At Vesterbros Torv in Copenhagen, Olsen has his newspaper kiosk. Here comes high and low in society: Homeless, a district attorney with pain in marriage, a barmaid and a writer. They all fight with theirs, while Olsen's good heart makes him interfere in everything he can.

The Great Nordic War was in full swing, and the Danes and Norwegians had heard with increasing wonder and excitement about a series of victorious and daring feats practiced by a young frigate commander, Captain Lieutenant Peter Wessel. In the film, we meet the handsome naval hero as he sails home to Copenhagen with the frigate "Løvendal's Galley", which is heavily molested after fierce skirmishes with the enemy.

The young talented composer Ole Sand and his wife, the operetta actress Alice Sand, live a very stormy marriage. Due to Ole's bohemian, restless lifestyle, it is shipwrecked. Alice meets the extremely elegant businessman Christoffer Martensen, whom she marries in a small idyllic village church. He casually tells his future bride that he has read that the expression Tobiasnätter dates back to the Middle Ages, and that in this way one paid tribute to one's bride by being as chaste as the prophet Tobias was in the first three days of marriage. Their marriage also remains so, one day slipping away after another, triviality is taking the life of Alice.

One day, High Court Prosecutor Erik Jessen is visited in his office by one of his childhood crushes, Elisabeth, now married to landowner Gustav Rosenfeldt. Elisabeth is unhappy that her husband has invited a young painter to stay on the estate for several months, and in her jealousy she wants to have a flirt visit herself. Jessen has the mischievous idea of ​​having advertising consultant Thomsen play the role of archaeologist and show up at the estate, but since Thomsen is not exactly the type Elisabeth dreams of, she manages to lure Jessen to Rosenfeldt herself.
