Rebekka, Claudia and Sofie are freshmen in high school and will no longer accept being treated as juniors. Taking matters into their own hands, they devise a rite of passage, the 'fortune teller', symbolizing their entry into adulthood. As they take turns challenging each other's sexual boundaries, they eventually have to ask themselves whether performing weird rituals is the easiest way to get to know themselves and feel grown up.

A middle-class family, on the surface happy and perfect, are close to disintegration due to the father's escalating alcoholism. After several years of failure and broken promises, they finally give him an ultimatum. However, they must soon recognize that the solution rests on everyone's shoulders.

Behind the closed doors of the Copenhagen-based women's shelter, the women and children are slowly recovering after having escaped domestic violence. Day by day the women are processing their traumas, building confidence and slowly understanding what it takes to break the cycle of violence.

Piv is in 3rd grade. She is a quiet girl who is often bullied by the quarrelsome Mia and her girlfriends. One evening, Piv's parents have invited one of their old friends to dinner. The friend has taken his daughter with him, who to Piv's horror turns out to be Mia. The parents do not know anything about the girls' stressful relationship with each other and also do not notice anything during the dinner. After dinner, Piv and Mia go for an evening walk in the dark forest, where Piv has previously seen a dead cat in the forest lake. She challenges Mia: Does she, like Piv, dare to walk all the way out of the tree trunk to see the cat?
