People living at a seashore town are frightened by reports of an unknown creature called "the sea devil". Nobody knows what it is, but it's really the son of doctor Salvator. The doctor performed surgery on his son and now young Ichtiander can live under water. This gives him certain advantages, but also creates a lot of problems.

The commander of the cruiser Zarya, nobleman Bersenev, sympathizes with the Bolsheviks, encouraged in part by Artem Godun, chairman of the ship’s committee. His eldest daughter, Tatyana, follows in her father’s footsteps. Her husband, von Staube, is involved in a counter-revolutionary conspiracy.

It was the commander of the guard. The museum director, his wife, the gardener, and the commander set up a makeshift barricade. Soon a fascist motorcade appeared. The museum's defenders fought fiercely and held off the enemy until rescue forces arrived.
