Second half of the 19th century. In a small town in South Bohemia, fifth-former Jan Ratkin is living through the confusions of first love together with his classmates.

The film, in individual episodes, captures the fate of Bedřich Smetana from 1856 until the end of his life, from his young years until the moment when, exhausted by human and artistic hardship, he sees the fulfillment of his great dream, the opening of the National Theatre.

Young bricklayers Franta Doubrav and his friend Béla meet two girls, Mařka and Vlasta, on their way back from a friend's wedding, but they only manage to call them by their name and the construction site they are currently working on. Imagine their surprise when they discover that Mařka is a trained bricklayer who has joined Franta's father's work crew, where she proposes a new way of working that will help catch up on the construction delays. As a young girl, however, she must first deal with the distrust of the older and more experienced bricklayers.

This exemplary "psychological drama" depicts the difficulties with which a new socialist mindset is born. Director Jiří Sequens warns against ill-advised marriages into the families of the defeated bourgeoisie, because the former royalty refuses to accept a man from a different social class. The heroes of this film will find out. The former owner of a pharmacy refuses to accept that his daughter has married a mere technical draughtsman. However, her father's hateful schemes cause the sensitive woman to attempt suicide.

The Pioneers are leaving for a holiday camp for young astronomers. And it's going to be an interesting stay, as a large meteorite was observed falling shortly beforehand, and it looks like debris fell into the area around the campground.

An adventure film about the struggle of the Czechoslovak security authorities against Western agents. In an express train departing from Nuremberg station, a cigarette box with plans and instructions for the destruction of one of the Czechoslovak dams is stuck under the seat. The State Security is informed about the whole operation and tries to catch the foreign agents.
