In the mid-1980s, Yevgeny Vasin, nicknamed "Dzhem" (aka "Batya"), created the criminal group "Obshchak" in Komsomolsk-on-Amur. He already had criminal experience - he had been tried several times, including for hooliganism. "Obshchak" was destined to become one of the main organized crime groups in Russia and even leave its mark on pop culture.

Former members of the Obshchak criminal group are telling for the first time how the exemplary Soviet city of Komsomolsk became the criminal capital of the Far East; why, 20 years after the death of the leader of the Obshchak, Evgeny Vasin, they are still called Batey; and how the tragedy that destroyed both Vasin and his empire occurred.

Stand-up comedian Leonid Kulakov rents a motorhome and goes to a gypsy camp at the invitation of the baron. Along the way, he gets to know a wide variety of representatives of this people: he receives a prediction from a famous fortune teller, has fun at a wedding, explores the life of the camp and even enters the ring to fight.
