Dionisio, a young man from Chaco in Buenos Aires to support his family, works as an apprentice in a workshop. Isolated and mistreated, he finds comfort in a stray dog, but workplace conflicts threaten their bond and force him to confront the abuse.

República Chas reconstructs the story of a group of residents from the Buenos Aires neighborhood of Parque Chas who, years ago, embarked on an unusual project: to declare independence and turn their neighborhood into a republic. Through testimonies and footage from those involved, the documentary revisits the story of this remarkable initiative and the people who set out to make it a reality.
