Christina Karliczek Skoglund

The mysterious song of humpback whales fascinates researchers worldwide. But why do the whales sing? Underwater camerawoman Christina Karliczek Skoglund dives into the world of these powerful-voiced marine mammals with marine biologist and cameraman Florian Graner. They encounter curious calves, spectacular battles, and a young whale playing with dolphins. On her journey, Christina also meets scientists. Are we on the verge of finally cracking the "code of the whales"? And how can AI help us?

An intense portrait of a group of animals that we demonize and are currently in the process of wiping out. Without cages, Christina films tiger sharks, reef sharks, and hammerhead sharks. She meets people who study sharks, who help them, or who have been injured in encounters with them. "Among Sharks" portrays the animals neither as monsters nor as cuddly pets, but as what they are: fascinating creatures with a central role in the marine ecosystem.
